La Marciana, an unique wine

La Marciana is a Grenache with aromas of intense red fruits and spicy notes, great depth mixed with a beautiful freshness in the mouth. Harvested and sorted by hand, the grapes are placed in small crates and cooled overnight at 3°C. We carry out a natural fermentation in small vats, without adding yeast and we proceed to manual punching down. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. We only use barrels from the forests of central France, with a very fine grain and a deep and light toasting. The wine remains in the barrel until it is bottled. It is not stabilized and filters very slightly.

Up a couple of points since I tasted it for last year’s report – maybe I was having an off-day- this is a stylish, full-bodied Garnacha from two very old parcels in Calahorra. Co-fermented with 5% other white grapes, this is ripe and high-toned, with aromas of sage and Asian spices and a palate of mulberry and figcomplemented by a balsamic lift. 2025-28
